Alexandre is in the mid 40ties and lives together with his partner Dona Beni and her two daughters Gabriela and Barbara in Laranjeiras, a middle to upper class neighbourhood. His subsistence he gains by selling old vinyl records. Dona Beni is housewife, but also betters the finances by working part-time in a bakery and provides additionally filled salty pastries to a pub close to their flat.
For a street hawker Alexandre earns above-average, standing out through his professional business concept. Because of his pre-selection, he only attends a certain musically sophisticated target audience, mainly musicians, music students and lovers of rare vinyl records. Furthermore he set up a big number of regular customers thanks to the high quality of his records. These customers come from all over Brazil and many even from abroad, because of his strategically favourable point of sales, where also many mainly culturally interested tourists pass by. Thanks to his business he also got to know a lot of musicians personally and formed friendships with them. They recommend him. |
